Go away, Longbottom by ArBoL-6 Go away, Longbottom by ArBoL-6
In this scene, you can see Snape using a spell to clean the mess Neville did, and Neville in the back, eager to run away as soon as he puts a foot out of the dungeon.

What an excellently portrayed scene! I love the lighting - how Snape is half-hid in shadows - and the expression on Neville's face.

Everything about this, I love. Poor Neville...He's a braver soul than I. I'd have already fled the room.

Love it! But Snape wasn't responsible for what happened to Neville's parents. They were tortured by Bellatrix because she thought they knew where he (Voldie) had gone. Snape had nothing to do with it.

Oh, but he was the one who made mr V know about the prophecy in the first place.

Right, but Voldie didn't go after the Longbottoms, they were safe - at least in that case. Bellatrix targeted them because they were prominent Order members and Aurors, she thought they would have the classified information of where the Dark Lord went.

How is that assuming? It's in the books.

This is what the Lexicon says:
Frank and Alice were captured by Death Eaters shortly after the fall of Voldemort (late 1981). They were subjected to the Cruciatus Curse in an attempt to force them to tell where the defeated Dark Lord had fled to. The torture drove them insane and are now at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries in Ward 49.

I started re-reading them last year, but I am trying to find them in English this time (I've read the first one, and I've got the 4th and 5th, but the others are missing OR are expensive as hell)

This has a feel of the old styled cartoons from the 80s about it.
Beautiful shading and colouring. Their expressions are really well done!

Hmm, what I think it is, what causes Snape to be so cruel to Neville is that he's angry that Neville wasn't the one that Voldemort chose. Because if Voldemort had chosen to go after Neville and his parents, Lily would be alive. That's my theory.

I don't think Snape really needs a special reason to be mean to people hahaha
Neville is simply an easy target XD

Hmmm...I don't think Snape felt bad about Neville. He wasn't generally a caring guy :P JKR said that if Harry hadn't been Lily's son, Snape wouldn't give a flying dragon dung about him. I love Snape as a character but I don't like how he only cared for Lily. But, his awesomness of character development makes me admire him ;)

Either way, I love the drawing ;)

I think the same thing! Though I keep coming the conclusion that Snape does feel bad for Neville's parents but hes only hard on im because he wants him to get better at potion making.

I liked this version better than the blue one. But if you wanted to do yet another one, I'd try it in green tones.

Maybe it's because he feels guilt that he treated Neville so badly.... or maybe not. What is certain to me is that Snape never received much love, especially not the kind of love that was unconditional and could excuse faults. Because others weren't able to forgive him he wasn't able to forgive himself. As a result of this guilt he carried a great deal of self-hatred. And someone who holds themselves in little to no value has very little capacity to love others.

However, what happened to Neville's parents was not Snape's fault. He didn't force Bella and the others to torture the Longbottoms, nor did he plot with them to attack the Longbottoms. Snape's choices had a negative effect, yes. But Bella and the others' choices were their own.
